These terms cover your use of sophicrentals.com and the application process. Renting a vehicle or driving on our fleet is governed by a separate written Rental Agreement or Driver Agreement that you sign before pickup; if anything here conflicts with that agreement, the agreement controls. Nothing on this site is an offer to rent a specific vehicle until we approve your application and you sign.
Application fee — not refundable
Applying to rent a vehicle or to join the fleet-driver program requires a one-time application fee of $9.99, paid through Stripe. The fee pays for verifying your license, driving record and insurance. It is not refundable — including if your application is declined, if you change your mind, if a vehicle you preferred is no longer available, or if you don't complete the license upload. It is not a deposit and is not credited toward rent.
Who can apply
- You must be 21 or older and hold a valid, unsuspended U.S. driver's license (California for fleet drivers).
- Rental customers must carry their own full-coverage auto insurance — liability plus comprehensive and collision — that extends to a rental vehicle, with Sophic Rentals listed as an additional interest, and must disclose rideshare use to their carrier. Proof is required before pickup and the policy must stay active for the entire term.
- We verify what you tell us. Giving false information, or uploading a license that isn't yours, ends the application and forfeits the fee.
- Approval is at our discretion. Vehicle availability is shown in good faith but changes daily.
Rental terms summary

| Pickup & return | At the Sophic office assigned to your vehicle: near LAX, near John Wayne Airport (SNA), or next to Chapman University in Orange. |
| Rideshare use | Only with prior written approval and rideshare use disclosed to and covered by your insurer. |

| Late return | $100 per day. |
| Smoking | Not permitted; $500 cleaning fee. |
| Damage, loss, theft | Renter is responsible up to the vehicle's full replacement value, not limited to the deposit. Insurance lapse is a default and we may reclaim the vehicle immediately. |
Fleet-driver program summary
Fleet drivers are independent contractors, not employees, and drive on their own platform accounts and schedule. Each week 50% of platform earnings are paid to Sophic until the weekly target in your Driver Agreement is met; earnings above the target are yours. The vehicle, commercial insurance while driving it, and maintenance are provided by Sophic; charging is paid by the driver. The target, mileage and personal-use terms are set in writing in the Driver Agreement before you start.
Communications
By applying you agree that Sophic may contact you by text message, phone and email about your application, vehicle, billing and insurance. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts; we may still contact you by email or phone about an active agreement.

Earnings figures, calculators and cost examples on this site are illustrations based on stated assumptions, not guarantees. Your results depend on your hours, platform, driving and charging habits. Uber, Lyft, DoorDash and Tesla are trademarks of their owners; Sophic Rentals is independent of all of them.
Disputes
These terms are governed by California law. Disputes arising from an application will be resolved in Orange County, California; disputes under a signed agreement follow that agreement's mediation and arbitration clause.
