The car — included
A Tesla Model 3 or Model Y from our fleet, charged and cleaned when you get it. It stays a Sophic car; you don't take on a loan or a lease.
Insurance — included
You're covered under Sophic's commercial policy while driving our car. No need to buy a rideshare endorsement yourself.
Maintenance — included
Service, software and mechanical repairs from normal use are on us. If the car goes down we work to get you into another one.
Charging — on you
About $20 per 500 miles across our fleet, tracked per car through Tesla's fleet system and billed automatically. A fraction of gas.
The split — 50% until target
Each week, half of your earnings go toward the car until the weekly target is met. Past that, every dollar is yours. Big weeks pay you, not us.
Your status — contractor
You're an independent contractor driving on your own platform accounts, on your own schedule. We don't set your hours.
Good to know
It's the amount that covers the car, insurance and maintenance for the week. It depends on which car you're in and how many hours you commit to, and we agree it with you in writing at onboarding before you drive a single mile. The illustration above uses $600.
You still only pay 50% of what you actually earned that week — never more. If it keeps happening we'll sit down and look at whether a different car or schedule works better for you.
No. Fleet drivers are covered under Sophic's commercial policy while driving our car. That's the main difference from renting, where you carry your own policy.
21 or older, a valid California driver's license, a clean enough record to be approved by Uber and Lyft, and an active or eligible driver account on at least one platform. Prior rideshare experience helps but isn't required.
No. The $9.99 covers license and record verification and is not refunded if you're declined.
Yes — you keep the car at home and charge it like it's yours for the length of the program, within California. Personal-use and mileage terms are in your driver agreement.
You're paid by Uber, Lyft or DoorDash directly, as usual. Once a week you pay Sophic your share through a Stripe link — the same day every week.
